Our online personal training gives you the means to achieve your fitness goals, no matter where you are, with a personal touch.  Whether your goal is to add muscle, lose weight, reduce body fat or add variety to your fitness program, our programs are designed to meet your needs.  Not only will you receive a month’s worth of complete programming every month, but to make things more personal you will have the option to reach your trainer through phone or email.  No more guessing what you are going to do when you arrive to the gym.  You won’t find that from generic tear out workouts in your favorite magazine!  All of our programs are developed with the “bigger picture” in mind.

We also offer fully customized programming based around YOUR unique needs.  Play a sport?  Training for a triathlon?  Half marathon?  5k?  Need to excell in your adult softball/football/volleyball league?  Simply put, using resistance machines and static stretching isn’t enough to get you to the top of your game.  Let us write the programs to give you the best season/race you’ve ever had!  As an added bonus you will also receive:

  • The opportunity to meet with your trainer 2x/month through Skype to have all of your detailed questions answered “in person!”
  • Customize your workouts to peak for a certain date/season.
  • Control the number of days that you prefer to work out.
  • Have the programs written to coincide with the equiptment that you have available already!

Chris Merritt: Co-Founder of Beyond Strength Performance and Disciple MMA Academy, B.S. Kinesiology, IYCA-CHSSCS, NSPA-CPT, MMACA-CMMACC, Tactical Athlete Level 1 Kettlebell Instructor

Chris Merritt, a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University, has a strong passion for seeing clients through to their goals and beyond.  Having competed in a multitude of sports throughout his childhood and young-adult years, Chris has the experience to not only “train” clients, but know what it’s like to put in the sweat equity day in and day out.  Athlete or not, Chris believes that everybody needs something to train towards; whether it be a team sport, individual sport, fun run, keeping up with the kids, or any other endeavors that one may have- set a date and make it happen.  Goals and deadlines keep us driven towards success…

Chris is currently a strength & conditioning coach for both professional and amateur mixed martial arts athletes (specializing in weight cuts and peaking for competition), as well as part owner of Disciple Mixed Martial Arts Academy.  One of his clients, Dustin “The Disciple” Pague, was a recent contestant on season 14 of the Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV, and currently competes in the UFC.  Over the years, Chris has worked with both male and female clients ranging from 8-years-old to 82-years-young.  He has seen clients through pregnancy, wedding preparations, career setbacks, and both mental and physical disabilities. 

“Honestly,” says Chris, “I don’t have a favorite type of client.  It’s the relationships we build with each other and the milestones we reach that I thrive on.”


Todd Bumgardner:

Todd graduated from California University of Pennsylvania with a Master of Science degree in Exercise Science and Health Promotion. Before attending CAL U, Todd attended Lycoming College where he played football and worked as a strength and conditioning coach for two female sports. He is certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) and the International Youth Conditioning Association as a High School Strength and Conditioning Specialist (HSSCS).

Above all else, Todd believes in making his clients stronger–in body and in mind. He believes once high levels of strength are obtained that all things in life, and in fitness, become easier.

Todd has had the opportunity to work with athletes of all levels. During his five years as a coach, he has trained and consulted with high school athletes, collegiate athletes–as well as players currently in the NFL and competing as international rugby players. He has also helped clients ranging from soccer moms to grandmothers set and achieve their fitness goals.

Todd is a featured author for Testosterone Nation and has contributed to Elite FTS, among other popular blogs and websites.

He has competed in powerlifting, hitting best lifts of 405 bench press and 555 deadlift. In the near future, Todd will begin competing in strongman through North American Strongman.
